60 zwangere vrouwen hebben in Kiyunga een birthkit ontvangen. Een birthkit bevat items die kunnen helpen bij betere hygiëne tijdens de bevalling. Bovendien vragen health centers en ziekenhuizen van vrouwen dat ze zelf een birthkit meebrengen als zij onder begeleiding willen bevallen.

60 pregnant women received a birthkit in Kiyunga. A birthkit contains items that can help improve hygiene during birthgiving. Apart from that, health centers and hospitals request women to bring their own birthkit when they wish to be guided professionally during labour.

De eerste term van het schooljaar zit erop. Alle kinderen hebben nu vakantie. Kameri Rogers is bezig alle schoolrapporten te verzamelen van alle sponsorkinderen. Dat is een flinke klus. Daarna gaan alle rapporten naar de sponsors. We zijn erg benieuwd hoe het gaat met iedereen! Op onze Facebook pagina verschijnen de komende tijd video’s door onze sponsorleerlingen. The first term of the year has finished. All children are having holidays right now. Kameri Rogers is busy collecting all report cards. Quite a job! After that, all report cards will be sent to the sponsors. We can’t wait to hear how everyone has performed! On our Facebook page, video’s by our sponsored pupils will be posted. Great to watch!

Onlangs hebben we weer tien vrouwen en hun pasgeboren babietjes een betere start in het leven kunnen geven door het inmiddels bekende Mommaluv pakket. De verpleegster van Kisozi diocese gaf voorlichting aan de vrouwen over allerlei onderwerpen die te maken hebben met gezondheid en opvoeding.

Recently we were able to give ten women and their newborn babies a better start in life with well-known Mommaluv package. The nurse of Kisozi diocese sensitized the women about all kinds of health related topics.

Vorige week was er een speciale dag voor ouders en docenten op school in Kisozi. Ouders kregen informatie van docenten over bijvoorbeeld materialen die gebruikt worden in de lessen en de materialen waarvoor leerlingen verantwoordelijk zijn. Daarnaast konden de ouders vragen stellen en vertellen hoe zij vinden dat het gaat op school.

Last week, there was a special parents-teachers meeting at school in Kisozi. Parents were informed about materials that are used at school and the materials for which learners are responsible. Apart from that, parents were able to ask any question and talk about their experiences with the training center.

De organisatie Aseu heeft de eerste groep imkers getraind in ons trainingscentrum in Kisozi. De deelnemers leerden alles over het houden van bijen, welke materialen te gebruiken, het zelf vlechten van bijenkorven en het verkrijgen van honing. De deelnemers uit de eerste groep gaan de komende maanden werken met bijenkasten op ons eigen terrein.

The organization Aseu has trained the first group of beekeepers at our training center in Kisozi. The participants learned everything about beekeeping, which materials to use, how to make beehives themselves and how to get honey from the hives. The participants from the first group will be working on our site in the coming months.

Een tijd terug hadden we een inspirerende digitale ontmoeting tussen Oeganda en Nederland, tussen Egoli Africa en Ubuntopia. Al een tijdje werken we aan een mooie samenwerking tussen vrouwen in Oeganda die duurzame sieraden maken en Ubuntopia.

Ubuntopia vertelt oude verhalen en legendes en conserveert deze orale legendes om ervoor te zorgen dat culturele wijsheden verdwijnen. Dit doet Ubuntopia door middel van theater, boeken en workshops.

Het was tijd dat Ubuntopia zich presenteerde aan het team van Egoli Africa in Oeganda.

Some time ago we had an inspiring online meeting between Uganda and the Netherlands, between Egoli Africa and Ubuntopia. For some time now we have been working on a great collaboration between women in Uganda who make sustainable jewelry and Ubuntopia.

Ubuntopia collects ancient stories and legends and preserves these oral legends to ensure that cultural wisdom doesn’t disappear. Ubuntupia does this through theatre, books and workshops.

It was time for Ubuntopia to present itself to the team of Egoli Africa in Uganda.

De fundering is klaar en de container staat weer op zijn plaats met de deuren in de juiste richting. Op dit moment wordt er aan de container zelf gewerkt: er komen deuren en ramen in. Ook zijn de boekenkasten voor alle jaarlagen van de basisschool en de middelbare school klaar.

The foundation is completed and the container has been lifted back, with the doors facing the right direction. At this moment doors and windows are placed in the container. The bookcases for all primary and secondary school classes are finished.

Met een speciale auto is vanochtend de container verplaatst. We gaan een fundering aanleggen. Daarna wordt de container weer teruggeplaatst en staat hij stabiel. De eerste stappen van container naar bibliotheek.

Doreen heeft donderdag voor de derde keer een Mommaluv pakket ontvangen! Een betere start in het leven, dat is wat een Mommaluv pakket betekent. Als we een Mommaluv pakket overhandigen, dan verzorgen we samen met de nurse van het health center uit Kisozi ook altijd voorlichting over dingen als voeding, family planning, covid-19, borstvoeding en gezond leven.

Doreen received a Mommaluv package for the third time on Thursday! A better start in life, that’s what a Mommaluv package means. When we hand over a Mommaluv package, we always sensitize the mothers (and fathers) together with the nurse from the health center from Kisozi, about things such as healthy nutrition, family planning, covid-19, breastfeeding and a healthy lifestyle .

De deelnemers aan het watertank project hebben een certificaat ontvangen. De bouw van alle watertanks bij scholen en health centers is al geruime tijd afgerond. Het project is nog niet helemaal klaar: er moeten nog school groentetuinen aangelegd worden. Dat doen we als de scholen weer open zijn, waarschijnlijk begin 2022.

The participants in the watertank project have received a certificate. The construction of all water tanks at schools and health centers has been completed for some time. The project is not quite finished yet: we still need to set up school vegetable gardens. We will do that when schools are open again, probably early 2022.
