De aftrap van een reeks Worldschool presentaties is genomen door een groepje dat dit jaar heeft gewerkt aan het maken van een ontwerp voor een waterfilter. De opdracht was te bedenken hoe men in Oeganda zelf een waterfilter kan maken. Normaal vinden de presentaties plaats op een middelbare school tijdens een heus event. Dit jaar vinden de presentaties online plaats.

The kick-off of a series of Worldschool presentations was taken by a group that worked on a design for waterfilters this year. The assignment was to think about how people can make their own water filter in Uganda. Normally the presentations take place at a secondary school during a real event. This year the presentations will take place online.
Birthkits
Aan het begin van het jaar ontvingen we van KIT International uit Australië weer een nieuwe voorraad birthkits. In de dorpjes Budoda en Bugolo hebben we een deel ervan overhandigd aan vrouwen die binnenkort hun kind verwachten.

At the beginning of the year we received a new supply of birth kits from KIT International in Australia. In the villages of Budoda and Bugolo we handed over some of it to women who are expecting their newborn.
Mommaluv mini event
Onlangs organiseerden we weer een mini Mommaluv event. Dank zij Mommaluv konden opnieuw 10 gezinnen een geweldig Mommaluv pakket overhandigen en gaven we weer voorlichting over dingen als vaccinatie, borstvoeding, family planning en hygiene. Ook dit keer kwamen er ook weer vaders mee! Leuk om te zien dat dit steeds vaker gebeurt.

Recently we organized another mini Mommaluv event. Thanks to Mommaluv 10 families were able to hand over a great Mommaluv package and we again provided information about things like vaccination, breastfeeding, family planning and hygiene. This time some fathers came along too! Nice to see that this is happening more and more often.

Onlangs vond er weer leuk online overleg plaats met vrijwilligers. We deelden ideeën over het sponsorship programma, nieuwe flyers, social media en hoe we jongeren in Oeganda kunnen betrekken bij interactie en op social media. Zin om je bij ons aan te sluiten? Recently there we had a nice online meeting with volunteers. We shared ideas about the sponsorship program, new flyers, social media and how we can involve youths in Uganda in interaction and on social media. Would you like to join us? We zijn trots! Er is hard gewerkt. De nieuwe klaslokalen zijn klaar en ook het hoofdgebouw ziet er nu prachtig uit met de finishing touch die het heeft gekregen. Ook de klaslokalen binnen zien er nu prachtig uit.

We are proud! A great job was done. The new classrooms are finished and the main building looks fantastic with the finishing touch it has got. Even the classrooms inside are nicely painted.
Eerste leerlingen weer naar school • First pupils back to school
De eerste leerlingen die deel uitmaken van het sponsorprogramma zijn na een jaar niet naar school geweest te zijn, weer terug in de schoolbanken. Paul gaat naar P7 en Sylivia begint aan het examen in s.4. In april volgen de andere leerlingen.

The first pupils that take part in the sponsorship program, have returned to school after a full year. Paul is in p7 and Sylivia is about to take her s4 exams. In April, the rest of the pupils shall return to school.

Het nieuwe jaar is alweer een maand oud. De verkiezingen zijn achter de rug in Oeganda. En wij hebben onze Farm Life workshops hervat. Afgelopen maandag organiseerden we een workshop in het dorpje Nabukidi.

The first month of the new year is almost over. The elections are done as well in Uganda. And we have resumed our Farm Life workshops. Last Monday we organized a workshop in the village of Nabukidi.

Mommaluv kerst event • Mommaluv Christmas event
In Kisozi hebben we net voor de kerstdagen dank zij stichting Mommaluv een mini Christmas Mommaluv event kunnen organiseren. 15 mamas en hun babietjes hebben een Mommaluv pakket ontvangen en zo vlak voor de kerstdagen is dat eigenlijk een geweldig kerstcadeau. We hebben onlangs tenten aan kunnen schaffen voor onze verschillende workshops. We hoeven dan niet meer alleen in de open lucht te zitten. Als het regent is dit enorm handig en het helpt ook tegen de warmte. In ieder geval hebben de tenten een eerste vuurdoop gehad: we hebben namelijk ook een Mommaluv seminar georganiseerd. De moeders kregen voorlichting over het vaccinatieprogramma voor kinderen, family planning, hygiene en covid-19. Met dit geweldige event sluiten we onze activiteiten voor dit jaar af. De leerlingen van Egoli Africa vocational center hebben tot eind januari vakantie en ook onze staff geniet even van de kerstvakantie. Als de verkiezingen in Oeganda (op 14 januari) achter de rug zijn, gaan we met frisse moed het nieuwe jaar starten.

In Kisozi we were able to organize a mini Christmas Mommaluv event just before Christmas thanks to Mommaluv. 15 mamas and their babies have received a Mommaluv package and just before Christmas, it is actually a great Christmas present. We have recently been able to purchase tents for our various workshops. We no longer have to conduct our workshops in open air. When it rains this is very useful and it also helps against the heat. In any case, the tents have been used for the first time: we also organized a Mommaluv seminar. The mothers followed a seminar about the vaccination program for young children, family planning, hygiene and COVID-19. With this great event we conclude our activities for this year. The pupils of Egoli Africa vocational center have a holiday until the end of January and our staff is also enjoying the Christmas holidays. When the elections in Uganda (on January 14) are over, we will start the new year with fresh enthusiasm.
